Temporary end?

4 02 2008

As you can see I haven’t been posting much these lasts months, today I decided that I should give it a rest. My mind is somewhere else now, not in updating a blog with relevant information, plus I need to focus in my master’s degree. I just have the master’s thesis left and I’m gonna need a lot of time for this, so the time I have left I want to spend it in things not related to nutrition/science.
For now this means the end for Metablogism. If my personal projects leave me some time in the future maybe I’ll be back to the blogging world. In the mean time thank you to the more than 1000 readers!!! And remember, eat a balanced diet and don’t be fooled by all the quacks out there… science is the answer.

Back from Prague

14 09 2007

Well, I’m finally back from Prague. What a nice city… a shame is so cold already at this time of the year. Last Tuesday, when I left in the morning, it was 8ºC!!! Also it was cloudy and rainy all those days. I didn’t have much time to see the city, but I can say it deserves another trip, this time only to do the tourist.

The congress was good. There were some interesting conferences and the poster presentation was a success. Our study will be translated to Japanese to be published in the japanese journal of clinical nutrition and metabolism. I didn’t expect that!

It was funny to see how more and more people take pictures of the slides used in the conferences… not many people take notes anymore. In some conferences it was announced that doing that was copyright infringement! Another use for digital photography that none would have ever imagined. 🙂

ESPEN Congress in Prague

7 09 2007

I’m leaving a few days to a attend a congress in Prague (Czech Republic). It’s the first time I’m going to an international congress, so I hope I won’t be overwhelmed when I present our study in the poster sessions on Monday.

The ESPEN Congress is one of the most important events in the field of clinical nutrition and metabolism in the world. The programme is extensive, so I guess I won’t have much time to do some sightseeing. Oh well, that can be the excuse to go back some day 🙂

New look

13 08 2007

I’ve changed the template from a dark one to another with more white on it, though the heading still has some black, which I like.

I also added a couple of new links. One is my Last.fm profile, so everyone can check what I’ve been listening to. For those who don’t know Last.fm, it’s one of those social-networks centered in music, it basically keeps track of your musical taste through a small program that works with your music player (if you use Amarok for the Linux OS you won’t need that). The other link opens a web site where you’ll find some of the stuff I get to my web feeder and I think is worth reading (I use Google Reader).

Back on track

12 08 2007

It’s been a lot of time… Too busy with work, family matters and specially uni.

I already went on vacations, I had a good time and I’m quite relaxed now (exercising does wonders). I hope that after this long break I can keep posting on this blog, starting tomorrow with some old stuff I have on the draft section.

Master’s degree = black hole

22 10 2006

Black hole Geez, it’s been tough to manage time now I’ve started classes at uni again. This MS is sucking up all my time… just like a black hole. I finish classes at 9 p.m., everyday.

This is the last week with this schedule, then everything will be a little bit more relaxed. Hopefully I’ll be back and try to get this blog running again.

Enjoy your time… ’cause I have none.

I’ve been accepted to the master’s degree

28 07 2006

I’m really happy today. The emerging European Higher Education Area (EHEA) starts its first steps soon, and with this new education system comes the long awaited official master’s degrees in my country.

I finished my bachelor’s degree a few years ago, and now I will start an official master’s degree in Nutrition and Metabolism thanks to the EHEA. I hope that once I finish the MS it’ll give me better job opportunities, and maybe it’ll also open the door to the PhD. We’ll see.
