I recently stumbled upon a web site called Gmaps Pedometer. This mash-up tool tells you:
- The total distance of your walk.
- How many calories you burned.
You can use the metric system or the english system.
All you have to do is:
- Type where you want to start in the “Jump to” search box.
- Use the usual controls to zoom the exact place where you want to start.
- When you are ready click on the “Start recording” button and then double click on the start point.
- Anytime you click on another point it’ll give you the distance walked and the calories burned (aproximately).
Well, what are you waiting for? Start walking! 😉

There’s something wrong with your site 🙁
I was browsing your website and noticed you have a broken link. 🙁You can find it on https://metablogism.wordpress.com/2007/09/15/gmaps_pedometer/ and it’s the “Food And Nutrition Information Center” link.
As an avid reader of “Metablogism”, I love reading anything you write about, such as “Know your calories burned while walking with Google maps”, and anything you link out to. Sadly, I couldn’t find the article you were trying to link to, but I did happen to find another good webpage on relevant topic: https://www.caloriescalc.com/. You should check it out, and if you like it, you probably want to switch the links.
I know you are busy and probably get millions of emails a day, but I hope this one was helpful. I just wanted to help you out for once as “Metablogism” has changed my life.
Cheers,
Eva
